Christmas Bureau Family
We have our Christmas Bureau Family for this year. This is a family that recently moved here from Iraq and is Vegetarian. This will be a challenge for me because I am not vegetarian and I have never eaten food from Iraq before. So if anyone has some great advice I would love the assistance. This family also wasn’t willing to ask for much..
Talking to Mom, these are some foods they are interested in:
- Orange Juice
- 7 Up
- Pancake mix (no pancake syrup they use chocolate)
- Strawberry or Raspberry Jam
- Vegetarian Pizza
- Nuts and Seeds (Almonds, Pine nuts, Sesame Seeds, Pistachios, Hazelnuts, Walnuts)
- Dried Fruit (Dates, raisins, figs, apricots)
- Spices: (cinnamon, cardamon, coriander, cumin, oregano, turmeric, tarragon or thyme)
- Bulgur wheat
- Chick peas
- Olive Oil
- Hot Chocolate (no tea or coffee)
The family didn’t seem interested in any of our staples such as soup, Kraft Dinner, Mr. Noodles, Pasta or Cereal. Moms biggest request was fruit and cheese.
This family consists of a Mom and Dad and 2 girls and a boy. No gift ideas for Mom or Dad. They just said that anything we can do would be great.
9 year old girl – Shopkins, Lego Friends, Wears size 7-8 so mom thought 9-10 might be better but she is quite petite. Her favourite colour is pink
15 year old girl – Clothes, Purse, Make-up, Shoes, movie pass Shoe size is 7-8 and wears a XS or S. She is also petite. She prefers grey, black and white. (no pink or red)
17 year old boy – Sports, Clothes. Movie pass. Wears Mens Large (he is small but likes baggy clothes) Likes Grey, White, Black or Blue clothes. Mom didn’t have too many ideas for him. Mom said he likes video games but they don’t have any kind of a system. I was thinking maybe we could find something, so if anyone has an idea for that please let me know.
We need stocking stuffers, gifts and food for all of Christmas Day. Please bring in all your donations by Sat., Dec 16. You can also help support our family by buying Christmas coupons in the store.
