Sew 4 Home Makers Janome Club Project #4 – Tufted Floor Pillow:

Get ready to go 3D! If you’re only willing to attempt flat projects, you’re missing out on all kinds of fun. You’ll learn to love dimensional sewing when you create your own patchwork and tufted floor cushion. Put your feet up in DIY style. This is the fourth project in the Sew 4 Home Club and it is featuring the AcuFeed™ Flex Fabric Feeding System. Techniques taught are the nine-patch top is made up of half square triangles, four patch units, and hourglass units, make and attach piping, build an expertly tufted box. Finishes at a compact 18” x 18” x 4”

Garment Sewing 101:

Learn to use your sewing machine to create a one-of-a-kind garment that you will be proud to wear. We will cover pattern and fabric selection and how to adjust our patterns for the best fit, as well as the basic details of garment construction in a relaxed classroom setting. Topics to be covered will include choosing a pattern in a style that will suit our body, fabric choices and pattern adjustments all the way to the finishing touches of Zippers and Hems. When we wrap up you will be able to tackle a multi-sized pattern with more confidence and have samples and notes for reference.

Kimberbell Quilt – Make Yourself At Home:

The 4th instalment in the 3D quilts by Kimberbell – this one has a theme of “Home” from Puffy sofas to Friday, nge on the lamps and Chenille potted plants. There are homes of all shapes and sizes along with sweet sentiments. There is a fun assortment of applique and embroidered blocks.

Hand Look Quilt Stitch:

Do you want the look of hand quilting paired with the speed of machine quilting? This is the perfect combination. Using a combination of cotton thread and invisible thread, you can let your machine do the work. Bring a small sandwiched project and see how it works.

Walking Foot Quilting:

How do you know where to quilt? Choosing patterns and planning what to do can be easier than you think. Using your walking foot is the easiest way to finish quilting some of those tops we all have. We will discuss threads and tips and tricks. Bring a quilt already basted with pins, thread or spray baste, and we will make a plan for it and get it underway.

Have Your Cake and Quilt It Too!:

Here’s one of my latest favourite patterns. You use about half a layer cake, a stopper between your “slices” and a border, and it goes together lickety split. If you have “cake leftovers” it’s a great way to use them up…or you can just use fabrics from your “stash” that go together. Just cut them up into ten inch squares.

In this project I will take you through quilt making and share my tricks for accuracy and easy quilting. If you haven’t quilted before this is a great project to see what quilting is all about. You will learn rotary cutting, strip piecing, pressing, machine quilting and binding techniques. It’s also a great class for quilters who would like to improve their skills.

Introduction to Quilting With Rulers on Your Home Sewing Machine:

If you enjoy free motion quilting the quilts you make, learn to use long-arm quilting rulers on your home sewing machine. This class will introduce you to using the Janome rulers and the design possibilities. In this class we will review the techniques, how to use the rulers and discover the design possibilities using rulers. We will practice using the rulers so you can create your own designs. You will need a ruler quilting foot and rulers for this class.

Another great cozy quilt pattern, this one pairs a traditional looking block with an easy breezy modern block. The combination is a winner. The star blocks are made in a streamlined way with no set in seams or large triangles. Another way to create magic with a jelly roll or pre-cut strips.

Turned Under Applique:

Raw edge applique has it’s place, but I really love the old fashioned look of turned edges. Learn two great methods to turn under those pesky applique edges. Once that is done, the stitching is easier than you think. I will show you how to do invisible applique stitches. We will go through both hand and machine methods. It can really add a new dimension to your quilts.

In this class students will create a Log Cabin lap sized quilt, 42 x 52. They will learn fabric selection and preparation, rotary cutting, piecing, block joining, basting the layers, as well as the basics of machine and hand quilting in the six sessions. Sisterhood Retreats Embroidery Club:

Welcome to another year of Hoopsisters Club. This year we have some really fun projects that you will create with the combination of your EMB machine and your sewing machine. This semester we will have 3 classes with the themes; Elegant Boudoir, Summer Time, and Fall. Each Monday,th we will work on one project from each “Theme”. Most projects are a combination of machine Embroidery and sewing machine work. Summer and Fall theme Monday,ths we will be working on the tree wall hanging so we will have 3 of the 4 completed in the set. In class we will start the project, go over tips on how to finish the project. Some projects will be covered over the course of 2 classes.

Hoopsisters Sisterhood Quilt:

The 2019 Block of the Month is Fleur de Lis. If you have an embroidery machine with an embroidery field of 5” or more, you will have so much fun making this quilt. All the piecing and quilting are in the hoop of your embroidery machine. There are 5 sizes to choose from ranging from 5” to 9”. Depending on your embroidery field and desired quilt size, you can make a wall hanging to King size quilt. This class is a great way to get to know your embroidery machine and make an amazing quilt. The block of the Month will run from Jan – June.
