Pillow Case Day! :Are you looking for a fun way to use up some of your stash while helping others? We will be holding a free, one day pillowcase making session, where we will lead you through the steps of creating a fast and easy pillowcase. Since they are so quick to make there will be time to stitch several. We are hoping that you will want to stitch one or more to donate to a local charity and or Children’s Hospital. We suggest that you use children’s prints or funky brights for the ones you will be donating. We will also be collecting pillowcases for Halloween or Christmas if you would like to drop off some pillowcases. A supply list will be available.

New! Cake Therapy and Beyond: Starting in October we have a whole new line up of fun classes and patterns this year for Cake Therapy. If you haven’t already attended Cake Therapy, then it’s time you did and find out what you are missing. All we are going to tell you is it takes place once a month at both stores and there are NO FEES for these sessions, but there will be cake! And of course laughter, friends, coffee and tea! What quilter doesn’t need a little “Therapy”, so sign up today to reserve your spot.

NEW! The Strip Club: No we haven’t gone completely crazy! But you know the saying “girls just gotta have fun”! What we are going to do is provide you with yet another way to create exciting quilts using either precut strips or strips you can cut from your stash. We will have some great ideas on how you can work with these strips in a variety of projects. This club takes place once a month. Pattern included in class fee. There will be lots of fun along with goodies, coffee and tea! Aren’t you just a bit curious? Sign up for three months at a time but can join anytime.

Embroidery Club for All Embroidery Machines: We have a new line up of fun project for winter. We will make pillow, table runner and stockings. Techniques learned will be embroidery placement, placing multiple patterns, appliqué in the hoop and more. This club has been designed to work on all current brands and models of embroidery machine with a min 5″ x 7″ hoop. This club is a great way for the beginner or the experienced embroiderer to become more familiar with their embroidery machine.

Elegant Elements: Each Elegant Elements Block is unique – giving you something new to learn in each class. Blocks are quick to stitch out on your embroidery machine with a an average stitch out time of 30 mins and only 4 thread colours per block. Digital cut files have also been included if you would like to cut your pieces out with your cutter. Block sizes available are 5″, 6″, 7″, 8″, 9″. Each block is unique, only 6 blocks repeat so you will be making something new every month.

These evenings continue to be very popular! Come in for an evening of “Fun and Finishing”. Bring in those UFOs and the staff will guide you in finishing them. It’s always a lot more fun to work with other quilters. We’ll have coffee, tea, and hot chocolate on hand. You can bring your own dinner. Come to one or come to them all. Bring along any project that you want to work on. Call us now to reserve your spot as these sessions fill very quickly.

Would you like to spend the day in the company of other quilters, away from the distractions at home? Then you need to sign up for one of our Day Retreats. We will provide a friendly work area, refreshments and even pop in now and then to make sure you are working hard. All you have to do is bring a potluck item and a project(s) you would like to work on.

Be Scrappy, Be Thrifty, Be Modern!: This REALLY easy and fast little quilt is made up of scraps…really… Gather all your 2.5″ strip leftovers or your leftover 5″ squares, or any other scrap that you can get a 2.5″ X 5″ piece out of and chop them all up to that size. Then cut some 2.5″ WOF strips out of a white, white-on-white or very light beige and I’ll show you how to turn it into a really cute, colourful quilt for a baby, or a throw, or even a queen sized quilt – the choice is yours (depending on how many scraps you’ve got! ) If you have all your fabrics pre-cut you’ll be able to finish the top by the end of the workshop.

Let It Snow Wall Hanging: If you like scrappy quilts and have a quilters “stash” this whimsical wall hanging is a for you! This fun project is created once a week over a five-week period to make a 40″ X 40″ wall hanging or a fun quilt for a winter baby using basic piecing and fusible applique techniques. You must have basic quilting skills to take this class but it is a good project for learning fusible applique techniques.

Pincushion and Ironing Board Cover:Tired of that plain old ironing board. This class is made to measure. Learn how to make you own bias tape. Measure your ironing board. Make as fancy as you like. The pin cushion/ thread catcher can match.

Thread Catcher: Have you ever gone to a class and wondered what you should do with your scraps? If so, join us to make a quick and easy Thread Catcher Bag & learn some new techniques. Once you have made one, you will want to make others for yourself &/or as gifts for your sewing friends.
