“Quilt Til You Wilt”

Theseevenings continue to be very popular! Come in for an evening of “Fun and Finishing”.  Bring in those UFOs and the staff will guide you in finishing them.  It’s always a lot more fun to work with other quilters. We’ll have coffee, tea, and hot chocolate on hand and order in supper. Come to one or come to them all. Bring along any project that you want to work on. Call us now to reserve your spot as these sessions fill very quickly. If you would like to use one of our classroom sewing machines please let us know as soon as possible.

Day Retreats/ UFO Days

Would you like to spend the day in the company of other quilters, away from the distractions at home? Then you need to sign up for one of our Day Retreats. We will provide a friendly work area, refreshments and even pop in now and then to make sure you are working hard. All you have to do is bring a potluck item and a project(s) you would like to work on.

Fee: $5.00 plus a Pot Luck item

Sewing Machine Level 1:  This class will cover the basics of learning to operate your machine.  Threading your machine, winding your bobbin, tension top and bottom , straight stitch, stitch length dials, stitch width dials ,needle up and down buttons, reverse, tension on zig  zag ,dropping feed dogs, needle positions, presser foot pressure, threads.  For those of you who just purchased a sewing machine at Tom’s or Countryfolk this would be lesson number 1.

Sewing Machine Level 2: This class includes different types of buttonholes blind hem , rolled hem, sewing on buttons, stretch stitches, and other stitches on your machine.  Learn how important and useful your machines stitches are.  For those of you who just purchased a sewing machine at Tom’s or Countryfolk this would be one of your FREE lessons.

Sewing Machine Level 3:  Level 3 is about computerized machines.  Decorative stitches, programming, memory , elongating stitches, balancing stitches.  You will be able to use more of those decorative stitches on your machine.  For those of you who just purchased a sewing machine at Tom’s or Countryfolk this would be one of your FREE lessons.

Beginner Cardtricks

Beginner Cardtricks: Make a traditional pattern a modern way. This class will accommodate the absolute beginner. You will learn fabric selection, rotary cutting, piecing, block joining, basting the layers, as well as the basics of machine and hand quilting in the seven sessions.

What a Hoot: Appliqué in your embroidery machine is so much fun.  Come and learn how to mix traditional applique and embroidery.  This method is fast and accurate to stitch as you are not using the stitch cut method.  This project was designed to be cut out using a fabric cutter, do it yourself or purchase a kit.

Jelly Roll Star: Just a jelly roll and some background and you create a stunning quilt top.  It measures 63 inches by 63 inches and is very simple to sew.  Great for the quilter who has already done the basics and is ready for the next step.

Hoopsisters Finishing Class:  Bring in any Hoopsisters project that you have started or want help starting.  We can help with any questions you have or you can just sit in air conditioning and get a project finished.

Quilt as You Go Tote Bag:  Also design as you go. We use all kinds of scraps and sew your own unique pattern right on the batting.  Come and make a fun bag.  For more shape you can even use soft and stable.

Row by Row:  I will demonstrate raw edge applique techniques including tips on building design units on an applique sheet. A variety of stitches will also be shown giving you options for which stitch you will secure the edges with.  You can get the quilt made this summer.

Layer Cake Quilt:  Make this great and easy quilt from layer cake squares. Either buy pre-cut squares or cut your own 10 inch squares to get a head start on this quilt.

No Peeky Nine Patch – No Holds Barred: Another no-peeky but this
time, no rules. No colour guidelines, no theme, just cut up your scraps into 2 ½ inch squares. You will need about 300 to take part. One optional setting will use sashings and four patches as cornerstones. If you want to prepare for the sample setting, cut another 225 squares at 2 ½ inches. After the fun, we can discuss other possible setting options for your blocks

Disappearing Pinwheel: If you loved the disappearing 9-patch, this pattern is for you. It goes together just as quickly, and looks so complicated your friends will be impressed. This one will be a standard that you make over and over. You can used planned or scrappy, just have good contrast. Each block uses 2 colours.
